Amish Grace

If you have not had the opportunity to hear Professor Donald Kraybill talk about Amish Grace, his publically acclaimed book written with Steven Nolt and David Weaver-Zercher, or have heard him before and would enjoy another opportunity, here is your chance! The Presbyterian Congregation in Middletown invites you to come on Sunday, May 18, 2008, from 4-5:30 p.m. to hear Dr. Kraybill speak, take questions and sign books. Books will be for sale (cash and checks only) at the event. To quote Jim Wallis of Sojourners/Call to Renewal, “Amish Grace tells a story of forgiveness informed by deep faith, rooted in a rich history, and practiced in real life. In an American society that often resorts to revenge, it is a powerful example of the better way taught by Jesus.”  Teresa Romano will sign/interpret for the hearing impaired.

The Presbyterian Congregation of Middletown is located on the corner of  one block south of the square (intersection of routes 441 and 230). For directions to the church, see www.pcmdt.org or call 944-4322. Parking is available in the church parking lot on E. Water Street. The church is handicapped accessible.

“Ministry in a Sexually Broken World”

The Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg would like to invite you and members of your congregation to attend a 24 hour seminar that we are hosting at our church, entitled, “Ministry in a Sexually Broken World.”  This seminar will be held at our church on Friday, April 25, 2008, from 7 -10 PM, through Saturday, April 26, 2008, from 9 AM - 12 PM.  On Friday evening, we will have the opportunity to hear some testimonies from people who have either ministered to those who have struggled with sexual brokenness, or have experienced sexual brokenness themselves, followed by an “open forum time” where you will have the opportunity to ask questions from our speakers.  Then on Saturday morning, we will be offering 3 workshops lead by our speakers.

The speakers include Kristin Johnson, Executive Director of One By One Ministries; Dorn Checkley, Executive Director of Whole Hearted Ministries and the Pittsburgh Coalition Against Pornography; and Mike Ensley with the Student Ministries Division of Exodus International.

Please mark these dates on your calendar.  Everything will be concluded before lunch, so there is not cost.  Please e-mail the church office at: office@presbyship.org with your name, phone number and how many will be attending from your family or group.  Please R.S.V.P. on or before Wednesday, April 23, 2008, so that we have enough time to prepare workbooks for all participants.
