2008 Mission Support

Through the generosity of the 52 churches of Carlisle Presbytery, the ministries and agencies listed below will receive support in 2008.

Allison Hill Community Ministry provides educational programs for children and youth plus supplemental food and 
clothing in one of the poorest neighborhoods of inner-city Harrisburg.

Downtown Daily Bread's mission is to serve Harrisburg's poor and hungry at no cost to them with no questions asked. Counseling services are available to those who make a request.

Fruitbelt Farmworkers Christian Ministry provides poor immigrant farm workers and their families who work in the tri-county area with an experience of Christ's love.

Fulton County Christian Social Services is a ministry to those living in poverty in Fulton County. The agency helps individuals and families to meet their basic life needs.

La Casa de Amistad, a ministry of Christian Churches United, helps Spanish speaking people in the Harrisburg area transition to self-sufficiency through training programs, information and referrals.

Presbyterian Homes, Inc. provides nursing home care and retirement facilities. Also helped are some elderly and special needs residents without adequate resources to pay for their care.

Sabbath House is a ministry which focuses on spiritual direction. Leadership is provided in spiritual direction, classes on spiritual direction, retreats and worship opportunities for pastors and lay people throughout the area.
