These videos, recorded by the Missouri Conference of the United Methodist Church, feature Dr. David Olsen, Executive Director of The Samaritan Pastor Counseling Center in Albany NY, and co-author of the book, Saying No To Say Yes. Our training time will include excerpts from the videos along with conversation that explores more deeply the content, such as understanding Family Systems; differences between clergy boundaries compared with other professions; the importance of clergy continuing education, vacations, and hobbies; clergy over-functioning/ needing to manage expectations; and the need for collegial accountability within and beyond the local congregation.
To keep our time on Zoom to a reasonable length, we are asking all participants to watch the videos on your own time, in advance of February 8. This, along with attending the Zoom training, will fulfill the expectation of the Commission on Ministry, that all Carlisle Presbytery teaching elders will participate in Boundary Training at least once every three years. Your attendance will be documented by the Temporary Stated Clerk of the Presbytery.
The Commission On Ministry has prepared this day to be meaningful and applicable, including an interactive 45-minute conversation with Dr. Olsen, who will join us live, via Zoom. We look forward to this time of reflection and learning!
