General Rules for Participation

 

Welcome to the Presbytery of Carlisle Discussion Board — a space for pastors, elders, and members of our congregations to share ideas, offer support, and strengthen our connection as a community of faith.

To ensure that our online fellowship reflects our shared values in Christ, please follow these general guidelines when participating:

1. Speak with Grace and Respect

• Engage others with kindness, patience, and humility.

• Disagree respectfully — remember we are all part of one Body.

• Personal attacks, insults, or demeaning comments are not acceptable.

2. Keep Christ at the Center

• Use the discussion board to build up, not tear down.

• Reflect the love of Christ in how you communicate and respond.

3. Stay On Topic and Purposeful

• Post messages relevant to the topic or ministry area.

• Avoid diverting discussions with unrelated or personal issues.

4. Honor Privacy and Confidentiality

• Do not share private or sensitive information about individuals, congregations, or presbytery matters.

• Respect the confidentiality of church and pastoral conversations.

5. No Advertising or Political Promotion

• This board is for ministry-related sharing, not for promoting businesses, fundraising, or political viewpoints.

• You may share resources that serve congregational or presbytery mission purposes.

6. Use Appropriate and Uplifting Language

• Avoid profanity, offensive humor, or language that could wound others.

• Remember: your words represent both you and your congregation.

7. Share Truthfully and Responsibly

• Verify information before posting or forwarding.

• Give credit to original authors when sharing materials or resources.

8. Respect Copyright and Intellectual Property

• Do not upload or link to copyrighted content without permission.

• When sharing worship, educational, or music resources, cite proper sources.

9. Moderator Oversight

• The Presbytery of Carlisle moderators may edit or remove posts that violate these guidelines.

• Continued misuse of the board may result in loss of posting privileges.

10. Build Up the Body

• Use this forum to encourage one another, share ministry successes and challenges, and support our common mission.

• Let everything you post be “done decently and in order” (1 Corinthians 14:40) and in the spirit of love.
